ONCODIR Participates in the 4th Cancer Mission Cluster Meeting 2026 in Athens

On 9th of October, ONCODIR coordination and several project partners took part in the 4th and final meeting of the Prevention and Early Detection – Implementation Research Cancer Mission Cluster in Athens, sharing insights from the project’s latest activities and contributing to discussions on policy learnings, cross-project collaboration and future directions.

ONCODIR played an active role throughout the meeting. The coordinator, Thanassis Mavropoulos (CERTH), delivered a dedicated presentation highlighting key policy learnings from the project, sharing insights to inform discussions on cancer prevention and early detection.

Later in the day, Thanassis  joined Marilly Psomiadi (Ministry of Health, Greece) in a panel discussion bringing together representatives of the cluster projects. Moderated by Michele Calabrò, Director of EUREGHA, one of ONCODIR’s policy partners working with regional and local health authorities, the panel explored key takeaways from the cluster collaboration, including opportunities for cross-project learning, common challenges and the way forward.

As the final meeting of the cluster, the event provided an opportunity to reflect on the experiences and lessons gathered through collaboration, exchange perspectives across projects and consider how shared knowledge can support the implementation of cancer prevention and early detection strategies.

Through its participation in the cluster’s concluding meeting, ONCODIR reaffirmed its commitment to translating research insights into relevant policy learnings and supporting collaborative efforts to advance cancer prevention and early detection across Europe.
